The first time I ever went to WEND in Gulu, Uganda, I was there for less than 48 hours. I was brought there to capture the story of this organization and these women. From the moment I arrived, I tried to snap as many pictures and record as many videos as possible. I knew I had just a little amount of time and a big responsibility. Once I sat down and began to hear more about WEND’s story, I knew this story was far bigger than myself. It was something I couldn’t possibly knock out in one take. In that moment, I felt like I needed OPRAH and a film crew to even try to do Jolly and these women justice. So, this in no way is the video that I’ve been dreaming up in my heart to tell WEND’s story to the world. But this video is a product of a little thing called “workin’ with what ya’ got”. I have some new footage mixed in with some old footage. And for now this is a little glimpse at who we are and where we come from.
